Hello, 2018

7th February 2018 by Chloé

It’s been a hectic start to the year already – I’ve been promoted at my 9-5 and taken on a lot more work, hence the temporary radio silence over here. Soz.

2018 marks my 28th birthday, and I’m not gonna lie, the prospect of being this close to 30 is freaking me the hell out! Probably like a lot of people in their late twenties, I feel like I haven’t achieved enough in my years on this earth. I’m always putting things off until tomorrow or next week, and before you know it you’re staring down the barrel of another new year not having moved any further forward in life.

Well, procrastinate no more. I’ve had enough of feeling crappy that things aren’t changing, when in reality I’m the only one holding myself back. This year I’m going to be smashing the shit out of my goals. And now I’ve written it down, so I have to stick to it.

To most, they’re nothing awe inspiring or earth shattering, but to me they’ll be making a huge difference to my everyday life in the long-term, and make for a much more contented me. So, what are my goals for the year ahead?…

Take Action

The big dog change this year is going to be this blog itself. I’ve never fully given it the attention it deserves, and now it’s time to get real. I’m always fawning over other blogs and wishing mine was as bursting with interesting content and amazing editorial images, but never actually doing enough about it. This year, I’ve set myself the goal of making my blogger dreaming a reality. As cliché as it sounds, life’s not a dress rehearsal, and if I want to really make something of this thing, it’s not going to just fall into my lap. I’m determined to make this a year of growth for MAGhag, and with some hard graft, get back to doing what I love most and hopefully working with some cool brands and other inspiring bloggers along the way. Watch this space…

To achieve my blogging goals as well as my personal ones, I think a proper routine and schedule is a MUST. Pre-2018, even things like getting out of bed on time were a struggle. I really battled with motivation just in general life, and it’s been amazing how much difference having a written routine can do. Ticking off basic tasks like drinking enough water or taking my make up off before bed, is actually strangely satisfying. And you do get a genuine sense of guilt if you haven’t managed to achieve everything on your list for the day.

And the same goes for bigger tasks like growing my blog. Having a weekly routine for content and everything else that goes into this whole shebang is something that’s going to make a real difference for me and give me the motivation I need to keep going with it.

Plan It Out

I’ve also found that having more specific weekly and monthly goals has been keeping me on track. Breaking down what I want to achieve into smaller, manageable tasks for each week and then in turn, each month, is a great way to feel less overwhelmed with it all and to make sure I’m constantly working towards my goals and not losing focus.

God knows I love a to do list, and after a new year’s sort out, it turns out mine are scattered across about 167,894,124 different notebooks. It’s DEFINITELY time to streamline, and it appears in my quest to do so, I’ve fallen down a YouTube rabbit hole of bullet journaling videos. I need to just bite the bullet – see what I did there – and invest in one. Plus, who doesn’t love getting new stationery?

Do Me More

Hands up, I’m a bit of a geek. Always have been. I love reading and crafting, and want to make more time this year for the things I enjoy most. I’ve already got an extensive list of books on order, and can’t wait to get my head stuck into the likes of Lily Pebbles’ ‘The F Word’. Huge girl crush alert! And to fill my creative need, I’ve enrolled myself onto a calligraphy workshop, and honestly couldn’t be more buzzing for it! I’ve fallen in love with the beautiful script writing that’s all over my Pinterest nowadays, and decided I wanted to learn for myself how to master it. How good will that look in my bullet journal?!

2018, it’s time.
