I confess, I used to consider buying loungewear a complete waste of money. Why would I spend good money on clothes that I would only wear in the house and no one would actually see? (side note – I may have ventured into the outside world more times than I care to admit in this ensemble).
But when I really thought about the items I was lacking most, it turns out there was a huge loungewear-shaped hole in my wardrobe. It may not be the most fashion-conscious choice, but my comfies are what I reach for pretty much every day. I just can’t bear to be sat at home feeling uncomfortable in the workwear I’ve been in all day. Practically as soon as I get in from work, it’s office attire off and PJs on – this is where you realise how much of a grandma I am. So this got me thinking, why not invest in some pieces that are just as cosy as my jammies but can actually pass as acceptable at 7pm if someone knocks on the door.
I’m all for something oversized, and when I clocked eyes on this knitwear number, I was sold! This cosier than cosy H&M jumper has quite literally ignited the loungewear love within me and I am now pretty obsessed with adding to my already growing collection. Never thought I would hear myself say that!
I love how loosely it hangs without drowning my small frame, and lord knows I’m a sucker for a flared cuff. The super long drawstrings and hood add to the laid-back vibe, and it is side-split hem just makes it all the more chic. Well, grandma-chic, I am aware.
And then there’s the joggers… Also from H&M, the softest pair of jersey joggers you ever did see, and in the perfect grey marl for that matchy-matchy vibe. These are genuinely the most comfy pair of bottoms I’ve ever owned in my life. I know, bold. But true! They’re the perfect fit, somewhere between tapered and loose if that’s even a thing, plus the ankles are fitted but not at all tight – win!
This ensemble has become my evening/weekend/errand-wear/’I’m on a period and feel crappy’ uniform, and I’m more than cool with that. Just as cosy as your standard jumper and joggers (if not more so), at the same time as making me feel semi-put together. I’m actually wearing them right now, shock! Loungewear, you’ve got me!
